Purpose

The Scaife Study Group (SSG) is run by volunteers as a non-profit making association. The membership is made up of those people with a Scaife connection who are interested in looking into the origins of the name and also investigating their own family history. Where connections become apparent, there will be an opportunity to contact other researchers.

The Journal

A series of Occasional Booklets that concentrate on particular subject or theme are published three times a year. Anything contributing to research into the Scaife surname and its variations (over thirty exist, the most common being Skaife and Scafe) is considered to be a suitable theme for these publications. The most recent booklets have included a listing of Scaifes born in England and Wales; and professions, trades or callings attributed to various Scaifes.

Subscriptions

The subscription fees are shown in the table below:

UK Overseas
£9.50 per annum £13.50 per annum
Note: This excludes 10% admin charge for credit card payments made via PayPal. [why?]

The membership year runs from 1st June, renewals being due in May. If joining between March and May inclusive, you can opt to defer membership to start in June. Otherwise, you will receive copies of the Sentinel for the current membership year. A subscription entitles a member to three issues of the Occasional Scaife Booklet Series over a twelve month period.
